I ordered the 5.5 inch Doogee Dagger DG550 in white last week from Gearbest.com, I received it with DHL Express after just 3 days. I did not want to spend much, but still wanted a nice phone, so that's the reason I picked the DG550. For me it seemed to be a good choice and the design is very similar to the inew v3. (just bigger).

So far I am very impressed with the phone and the stylish design. I especially like this model with the white frame because it makes the black screen look even nicer - and it stands more out than the all black version.

Hardware
  • OS: Android 4.4 (came with JB 4.2, but upgrading to KK 4.4 was no problem)
  • CPU: MTK6592 (Mediatek) 1.7Ghz Octa-core
  • GPU: Mali 450 700MHz
  • Memory: 1GB RAM & 16GB Storage
  • External Storage: MicroSD up to 64GB!
  • Screen: 5.5” HD OGS IPS (1280×720) display
  • Rear-facing Camera: 13MP (could be only real 8MP)
  • Front-facing Camera: 2MP
  • Wireless: Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS, Compass
  • Battery: 2600 mah removable
ROMS
You can find some Doogee DG550 roms here LINK
like version 4.4.2 (real) - 4.2 - 4.2.9 (fake version / stock)

MIUI 4.9.5 Multi-Language (10/10/2014) ported by xGMERZ can be found here

Memory
The phone comes 1GB RAM and 1,5GB internal, and 12,2GB storage.
It also supports micro sdcards up to 64GB.
For normal daily use this is fine, the phone runs very smooth. Only thing is that I could wish to have more than 1.5GB internal for apps, but I guess this can be hacked/changed with other EBR files.

Antutu Benchmark 5
I get 28340 in score with 4.4 Kitkat

Cons & Pros
Good
- Clear and sharp screen, real OGS/IPS, when the screen is off it is totally black!
- Vivid screen and good viewing angles. The touch sensitivity is perfect!
- The sound from the earspeaker is in my DG550 pretty loud, I don't think it is low
- The build quality seems to be good, I have no crooked corners or something like that
- It is a bit heavy in the hand, but in the nice way, feels like quality
- Supports OTA, so you can update the phone
- Supports Power Saving management (different settings possible) and CPU power limiter
- Very fast and good GPS
- Good WiFi range with good speed
- Battery is good for 1-2 days with normal usage
- It is smooth and has stable software
- The compass works fine after you have calibrated the sensors
- Backlight in the softbuttons
Bad
- No notification LED
- Does not come with Kitkat 4.4 out of the box, but you can flash it yourself
- The backcover feels just like matt thin plastic
- Soundquality and reception is average, not bad but also not super good
- No NFC or wireless charging builtin
- Only 1GB ram, but it still runs very smooth

My verdict
The Doogee Dagger DG550 is a very stylish smartphone - especially in white. It is very cheap, and for the money you get a lot of smartphone. It is hard not to be impressed about the big sharp screen when you have it in the hand. It is smooth out of the box but of course even more with Kitkat 4.4 and has no software bugs. If you want a cheap phone and does not need things like NFC and wireless charging then the DG550 is a very good choice in my opinion. I personally give it 9/10 - I love the phone!

  1. Hej!

To flash a backup or ROM with Spflashtool:
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2730031
Prøv at bruge denne version af SP Flash Tool SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1452.00.000
Søg på Google efter den, for at finde et download link.
